U.S. legal snapshot

  • Psilocybin: Schedule I federally. Legal for licensed supervised use in Oregon (Measure 109) and Colorado (Proposition 122). Decriminalized in several cities including Denver, Oakland, Santa Cruz, Seattle, Ann Arbor, and Detroit.
  • Amanita muscaria: Not federally scheduled. Sold OTC in most U.S. states. Banned or restricted in Louisiana.
  • Spores (microscopy): Psilocybin spores contain no controlled substance and are legal in most states for microscopy use; illegal in California, Georgia, and Idaho.
