Microdosing means taking a sub-perceptual amount of a psychoactive substance on a schedule — small enough that you do not feel intoxicated. Most searches for microdose capsules are looking for psilocybin, but most capsules legally for sale are not.
Legal microdose capsules contain functional mushrooms (lion's mane, cordyceps, reishi) or low-dose Amanita muscaria. Those can be sold in shops and shipped in most states.
Psilocybin microdose capsules are a controlled substance. Oregon and Colorado license supervised sessions, not take-home microdose regimens, so there is no legal retail source in the U.S. Gray-market shops in decriminalized cities do sell them, unregulated and untested.
The research picture is genuinely mixed: several placebo-controlled trials have found that expectancy explains much of the reported benefit of psilocybin microdosing. If you microdose, do it for reasons you can articulate, keep a log, and do not treat it as a substitute for care.

Are microdose capsules legal?
Functional-mushroom and Amanita microdose capsules are legal in most states. Psilocybin microdose capsules are illegal to sell anywhere in the U.S., including Oregon and Colorado.
Can I get psilocybin microdoses in Oregon or Colorado?
No. Both states license supervised sessions at service centers or healing centers. Neither allows take-home psilocybin product.
Does psilocybin microdosing actually work?
Evidence is inconclusive. Several blinded, placebo-controlled studies found that expectations accounted for much of the reported mood and focus benefit.
What is a typical microdose?
For psilocybin mushrooms, roughly 0.05–0.25 g of dried material — around a tenth of a full dose. Amanita microdoses are product-specific; follow the label's muscimol amount.
