Statewide legalization was on the ballot in November 2024 as Question 4, which would have created licensed supervised-use centers and allowed limited home growing. Voters rejected it roughly 57% to 43%, so Massachusetts still has no licensed program and no legal retail sales anywhere in the state.
That means any shop in Massachusetts advertising mushrooms is either selling legal Amanita muscaria and functional-mushroom products, or operating in the gray market. Local decriminalization protects personal possession from local enforcement priorities — it does not make selling psilocybin legal.
